Small. Refined. Yours. An evening that lingers. Delicate flavors. Little surprises. And plenty of what nature is currently offering in the area around the “ Molzbachhof .” Since 2018, Nina and Peter have been giving free rein to their passion for exceptional culinary experiences at the gourmet restaurant Gaumenkitzel. Small and refined. Personal and full of heart. As members of JRE Austria, they love nothing more than sharing their joy of fine gourmet cuisine with you. Take a seat. Let yourself be surprised. And discover the flavors nature has to offer.

The stage is set for culinary masterpieces.

An intimate atmosphere. Cuisine that showcases the essence of our natural surroundings. “Cook the Gart’l” is more than just a motto—it’s our way of cooking. We use herbs, flowers, and vegetables from our very own “Paradiesgart’l.” You can choose between two menus. “GenussPUR” takes you on a complete culinary journey, while “Genussmomente” features one fewer course. The signature style remains the same: seasonal, finely composed, with little surprises along the way. Upon request, we’ll pair your meal with a wine pairing or a non-alcoholic beverage experience.

Why "A Treat for the Palate"?

Because the name captures our philosophy perfectly. Tradition meets innovation. Freshness meets sustainability. Regional products meet creative gourmet cuisine. We prepare nature’s bounty with respect. Nose to tail. Leaf to root. Cook the Gart’l. Paired with carefully selected wines. Exquisite service. A friendly atmosphere. And a desire to surprise time and again—with flavors, with ideas, with the unexpected.

So that, in the end, exactly what the name promises happens: your taste buds are tickled.

A Passionate Host

A love of quality products. A passion for fine cuisine. And the joy of creating a special evening for others. That’s what brings Nina and Peter together. This shared passion gave rise to Gaumenkitzel.

Nina. Passionate about people.

People have always been Nina’s world. After graduating from the tourism school in Semmering, she and Peter gained experience together in Kitzbühel, at the Taubenkobel, at Vila Joya in Portugal, and finally at Gidleigh Park in England. Many places. Many encounters. So much that they both took home with them.

In 2013, their shared journey led them back to the Molzbachhof. At Gaumenkitzel, Nina guides guests through the evening—warm, attentive, and with a keen sense for all the little things that make a guest feel at home. Because that’s exactly what matters to her: connections, beautiful moments, and a warmth that lasts.

Peter. A passionate chef.

A passion for cooking? It started early. After graduating from culinary school, Peter set out on his own. He worked at Döllerer, at the Taubenkobel, with Dieter Koschina in Portugal, and then on to England. Many kitchens. Many experiences. Many things that have stayed with him.

In 2013, he returned home, bringing new ideas with him and keeping his roots firmly in Kirchberg. From this, his very own signature style emerged: Cook the Gart’l. Rooted in the region. Creatively refined.

At Gaumenkitzel, Peter’s cuisine takes on a particularly personal touch. Here, he serves each course himself, telling guests about the ingredients, their origins, and the inspiration behind them. This makes the interaction with the chef part of the culinary experience—course by course.

For us, cooking is pure passion. With a keen sense of what truly matters, we combine the natural qualities of the finest ingredients with a harmonious variety of flavors. Culinary art that surprises—and touches the senses. We are delighted that this approach has been recognized:

1 Michelin star
3 Gault Millau toques (16 points)
3 forks (93 points) in the Falstaff Gourmet Guide

Jeunes Restaurateurs

Never-ending passion.

We have been members of the Jeunes Restaurateurs (JRE) since November 2021. It is a community of about 350 top chefs and restaurateurs from 15 countries, with about 40 of them based in Austria. What unites us? A passion for culinary excellence at the highest level. A love of local ingredients. A respect for tradition. And a curiosity to continually reinterpret them in new ways.

JRE is all about togetherness. About sharing knowledge and experiences. About inspiration. And about inspiring each other to come up with new culinary ideas. For you as a guest, JRE is a guide to exceptional gourmet experiences—to restaurants where culinary artistry, atmosphere, and passion come together—and to moments of pleasure that linger in your memory a little longer.

Where Good Taste Begins

Good cuisine starts with the ingredients. With their origins. And with the people who, with great care and intuition, ensure that good things can grow. We find much of this right outside our kitchen door: herbs, flowers, and sprouts from the Paradiesgart’l. Whatever’s in season sets the pace in our kitchen.

Our Producers

In addition, we offer milk and veal from Kirchberg; honey from the Simon family; and salmon trout and trout from the Molzbach fish farm. Beef and lamb from the immediate vicinity. Venison from the Kirchberg hunters. Organic vegetables, organic grains, and organic potatoes from the region. And for special touches, chocolate from Zotter, Alpine caviar, or Styrian mountain shrimp.

We know many of our producers personally: the Samm family, the Pichler family, the Bauer family, and the Handler family. These are people who share our values: short supply chains, high-quality products, and respect for nature and animals. That’s our understanding of sustainability. And that’s how Cook the Gart’l begins—long before the first plate is set before you.
